From the website that brought you the February holidays of "International Dog Biscuit Appreciation Day" "Hoodie Hoo Day" and "Toothache Day," today I celebrate the all important "No Brainer Day." Currently on vacation in Washington DC, this seems to be a natural fit for an obligation-free Monday.
Right now I am officially three weeks from Peace Corps Staging in Philadelphia, PA. Before then I will experience my last day of paid work for 27 months, say goodbye to my family and friends and pack my life away in 80 lbs of checked luggage. Although I have gone through this process three times in the last 5 years (Hungary, France and Zambia), this will be my longest and most isolating adventure to date. Recent emotions include, but are not limited to: joy, nostalgia, thankfulness, slight anxiety and anticipation. They ebb and flow in unexpected waves keeping me up at night, distracted through the day and restless in the morning. Interesting how change can become predictable, but rarely easy.
That's all I have this morning. It's a vacation of resting in the moment, counting my blessings and leaving my worries at the door. Tomorrow's worries and to-do lists will have to wait. Happy Monday !
